Are you an Outback restaurant fan? Do you try and duplicate Outback Steakhouse recipes at home? It seems to be all the rage these days copying recipes from popular restaurants and eating at home instead of going out. I’m sure the economy is adding to this popularity!
Replicating your favorite restaurant meals can be fairly easy to do here are a few ideas to get you there…
Some restaurants list their recipes online or sometimes you can ask the waiter to give you the recipe and
some will comply. Most dishes aren’t as complicated to make as you think they may be. There may be a unique ingredient that makes the food so delicious or a certain way of cooking it. Simply asking can sometimes get you a recipe many chefs take it as a huge compliment when you ask for their recipes.
Another way to duplicate the dishes of your favorite restaurant is to reverse engineer it. Get the food as take out or even eat in and pick it apart by tastes. Once you identify all the flavors and know how it is cooked it really shouldn’t be that difficult to copy. You can also be slick about it by asking your server what the ingredients are due to a food allergy.
You may find some of the ingredients listed on the menu. Jot down what you see and taste about it while you are eating it even taking a photo of it may help you in recreating it. Often we forget the exact taste or look until we go to make it. It is good to have the notes and photo for comparison.
If you are a regular at a certain restaurant and get friendly with the wait staff, gush about the dish and how great it is and chances are they will fill you in on how it is made. Complimenting the chef may also do the trick as he may explain to you how it is prepared.
And here is a recipe I found to copy Outback Steakhouse’s Kookaburra Wings
1/3 cup Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp El Paso taco seasoning
1 tsp Italian salad dressing mix
oil (needed for frying)
20 chicken wings
Step 1: Heat the butter, sauce, and seasonings over a medium heat until the flavors are well mixed together.
Step 2: Fry the wings in the oil for 10 minutes or until cooked. Toss the wings and the sauce together while wings are still hot.
Since mimicking restaurant favorites is a popular trend these days I certainly can see why the Outback is included on your list. Happy cooking and enjoy that “bloomin’ onion” and good luck the next time you reverse engineer an Outback Steakhouse recipe!
